Description
In the Ammerland region, you will come across cat flaps for chickens, houses without chimneys and schnapps sipped from tin spoons. Right next to the spa gardens in Bad Zwischenahn is the site of the Open-Air Museum "Ammerland Farmhouse". Time appears to have stood still here, and the traditions of the local farming community are still practised. A few minutes' drive further south, the Local History Society runs a well-appointed museum on two floors. The society's extensive offerings even include three restaurants catering for day trippers, where you can sample the traditional ham or smoked eel.
