Wächtersbach received its town charter in 1404, and this building was the city's first town hall. It originated in the year 1495, is one of the oldest houses in the city, and served as the seat of the municipal administration until 1927. After being used as a residence, the Old Town Hall has been set up as a local history museum since 1968. Household and craft tools of everyday use from earlier times, exhibits of "Waechtersbacher Keramics", geological history of the region as well as pictures and documents pertaining to Wächtersbach's city history are part of the exhibition.
