Museum Schloss Klippenstein

Beschreibung

The Klippenstein Castle is located in Radeberg near Dresden. The protected historical monument has housed the Radeberg Local History Museum since December 1953, and since April 2015, the permanent exhibition on Radeberg's industrial history. Klippenstein Castle is the most striking architectural monument of the city of Radeberg and has been extensively renovated in recent years. It is one of the most significant testimonies to the reign architecture under Elector Moritz of Saxony, the famous Wettin ruler. Members of the Saxon royal house often stayed here. The architectural language of the Renaissance is preserved in many details at Klippenstein Castle in Radeberg. The history of the castle complex dates back to its first recorded mention as "Castrum Radeberch" in the year 1289. Moritz of Saxony expanded the castle into a hunting and office castle between 1543 and 1546. Due to its location on a wedge-shaped rock cliff, the building was named "Klippenstein Castle". Besides its function as a noble residence, the history of its official use mainly shaped the developmental use of the complex. The poet August Friedrich Ernst Langbein comes from the dynasty of the Langbein family, who were Electoral officers at Klippenstein in the 18th and early 19th centuries. Only in 1952 was the district court in the castle dissolved and the local history museum founded afterwards. Each of these eras has left its mark on the castle. The museum's exhibition refers to the architectural and usage history of the house, as the castle complex itself is the most significant exhibit of the museum. The black kitchen and adjoining treasure chamber in the south wing of the main castle, filled with valuable objects from the history of the castle, are the centerpiece of the exhibition. The adjoining rooms offer an insight into the eventful history of Radeberg from the city's foundation to the mid-19th century. Using important evidence, a new show completed in 2015 presents the diverse development of the industrial city of Radeberg. With its wide range of events and special exhibitions, Klippenstein Castle is a cultural centre in the Dresden area.https://www.schloss-klippenstein.dehttps://www.museum.de/museen/museum-schloss-klippenstein
