Welcome to the new Fritz Genkinger Art House
The Fritz Genkinger Art House is a renovated building in the heart of the protected historic old town of Marbach, about 20 km north of Stuttgart. The museum is dedicated to the painterly, graphic and sculptural work of Fritz Genkinger, a student of HAP Grieshaber. The artist Fritz Genkinger lived in Marbach-Rielingshausen from 1974–1995 and during that time created important works such as the three large posters for the 1974 FIFA World Cup in Germany commissioned by the Federal Press Office, 12 screen prints on the theme of football for VfB Stuttgart, as well as a series of postage stamps for the 1976 Winter Olympics and the 1978 FIFA World Cup, both in Paraguay. The permanent exhibition highlights some outstanding creative phases in Fritz Genkinger’s oeuvre. Currently on view are the following thematic areas: Painting and Music; Sports and Graphic Works; Sculptures and Böttinger marble. The museum also presents, in a special exhibition on the upper floor, changing phases of Genkinger’s work as well as works by artists from his circle. Since 2021 the Fritz Genkinger Art House has housed the Fritz Genkinger archive and manages his estate. It comprises paintings, drawings, prints, three-dimensional works and documents.
