The Adelberger Kornhaus, one of the few remaining medieval buildings in the town, is located on Kornhausplatz.
It was completed in 1514. This is evident from the Latin text of the copy of the building inscription embedded in the gable: "In order to preserve the fruits and protect the brothers from hunger, even in hard times, Abbot Leonhard Dürr, Doctor of Philosophy and both Laws, once erected this building. It was brought to light by the village of Zell under the authority of Aichelberg in 1514."
While preserving its architectural features, the impressive building was converted in 1981 into a modern city library with a contemporary and attractive range of media.
