[24] Marstall

Marstall
The Marstall in Göppingen is a historic half-timbered building from the 16th century that once served as a princely stable and is now used as a juvenile detention center.

Description

The elongated half-timbered building was constructed in the mid-16th century and still features Gothic elements in its pointed arch portals. Today, it serves as a juvenile detention center.

Between the Marstall and the castle is the Marstallbrunnen fountain, designed by Goeppingen-born sculptor Prof. Fritz Nuss (1907-1999). A fountain column formed from many horse bodies, from which water flows into a water lily pond, represents the connection to the Marstall building.
