The Oberhofenkirche is one of the oldest buildings in the center of Göppingen. Partially using an older predecessor building, the foundation stone for today´s church was laid in 1436 outside the protective city walls. The church contains a fresco from 1438 depicting two noble women in the style of a donor portrait. They are showing the model of the hall church, which was completed around 1490.
The background most likely shows the oldest view of the Stauferburg castle. Also worth seeing is a wooden crucifix from 1510 and a 15th-century mural in the choir. This refers to the military success of Count Ulrich V, the patron of the Oberhofenkirche, in the Swabian City War. It depicts fallen knights in the battle at Mutzenreis (Esslingen) in 1449.
