[4] Culture and Communication Center

Description

The Culture and Communication Center—abbreviated as KUK—houses the tourist information office, the city library, a wine shop, and the Pilgrim & Pilgrimage Museum. Built in 2008 in the heart of the old town, it creates an architectural link between old and new by connecting with the city’s oldest building, the Baumann House from 1478. The cubic structure, made of concrete, steel, and shell limestone, deliberately contrasts with the traditional architecture of the surrounding area. Architecturally, it is a real eye-catcher: light, transparent, and almost a little cosmopolitan.
