In 1812, the Lübz office was merged with the Marnitz office. In 1841, the Lübz office received several settlements from the abolished Plau office. With the dissolution of the Goldberg-Plau office in 1879, several settlements were annexed to the Lübz-Marnitz office. The Lübz-Marnitz office had now become the largest office in the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin.
The courthouse building of the Lübz-Marnitz office was built from 1895 to 1898 and continued to serve as such even after the dissolution of the office until 1952. The square in front of the former courthouse was called "Amtsfreiheit".
From 1952 to 1989, the old courthouse then served as the headquarters of the SED district leadership of the former Lübz district.
Only since the 18th / 19th January 1990 has the former courthouse served as the city administration office of Lübz and therefore as the town hall.
