Description

Situated directly on the Elde, the historic hydroelectric power station narrates a century of technical pioneering achievement. Constructed between 1923 and 1926 during the canalization of the river, it commenced operation on May 8, 1925, and reliably supplied electricity to Lübz and the surrounding areas. With its Kaplan turbines, the power station was considered a modern symbol of progress and engineering in its time.

After a volatile history, wartime destruction and reconstruction, the facility shaped the energy supply of the region for decades. Since 1999, electricity has once again been produced here - today with modern technology, but in a historical setting. The power station impressively combines the past and the present and is a fascinating testament to regional industrial and technological history.
