Description

In the Swabian town of Weißenhorn, the Archäologische Sammlung Weißenhorn, also called Archäologisches Museum Weißenhorn, documents the material heritage of the region and makes local archaeological sites accessible for scientific study. The museum is located in the town of Weißenhorn in the district of Neu-Ulm.

The collection began in 1979 and was housed in six rooms on the second floor of a former school building. On an exhibition space of approximately 100 square metres, conserved objects from the surrounding area are displayed; the chronology ranges from the Paleolithic to the 19th century.

Displayed among other things are Neolithic stone tools, grave goods from Bronze Age burial mounds, as well as Roman household items and coin finds. By number, the largest proportion consists of pottery sherds dating from the 11th to the 19th century. Overall, the exhibits provide insights into everyday life, burial rituals and the economic developments of the region across millennia.
