From the oldest works of art in southern Baden to medieval Freiburg: the Archaeological Museum in the Colombischlössle, built in 1859/61, invites you on a journey through the millennia.
Whether Paleolithic female statuettes, treasures from Celtic princely graves, evidence of Roman achievements, or regional finds from the Early Middle Ages – the originals are presented in an engaging, easy-to-understand way. Models and interactive stations illustrate the living conditions of each era. Rotating special exhibitions on particular topics round out the program.
The museum offers a diverse program for adults, families, and school classes. At a Roman fashion show, on costumed tours, or in the experimental Stone Age workshop, people of all ages can experience archaeology.
