At the renowned Düsseldorf Art Academy, Willi Tillmans (1888-1985) received his training as an art and landscape painter. He quickly established himself in the art scene until the First World War abruptly ended his rising career. Unlike many of his fellow students, he survived the war. In 1919, upon successfully selling a winter painting at an art exhibition in Berlin, he renounced city life. He moved to Kleinern, where he devoted himself tirelessly to painting the Waldeck landscape. Even 40 years after his death, his unique cultural legacy remains vibrant in the region. With a selection of artworks and original items from the artist´s estate, the new permanent exhibition of the Municipal Museums Bad Wildungen invites visitors to follow the defining stages of Willi Tillmans´ life and honor his significant artistic achievement.
