Description
The Blumhardt-Gedenkstätte in the Gottliebin-Dittus-Haus in Bad Liebenzell-Möttlingen preserves memories of Johann Christoph Blumhardt (1805–1880).
From 1838 to 1852 Blumhardt served as pastor in Möttlingen and attracted attention beyond the region through several prayer healings. He became particularly known for his pastoral care of Mrs Gottliebin Dittus, which lasted more than two years.
The exhibition offers insights into Blumhardt’s life and work and shows his connections with contemporary writers, particularly Eduard Mörike. In addition, the memorial commemorates two earlier Möttlingen pastors, Gottlieb Friedrich Machtolf and Christian Gottlob Barth; Barth is named as a writer and founder of the Calwer Verlagsverein.
