The unique exhibition of around 60 originals and replicas spans from the first gliders to the high-tech gliders that have broken world records. On your tour, you´ll discover rarities like the forefather of modern gliders, the Vampyr, the gull-winged Minimoa, or the unusual rocket duck. Find out why gliders and model planes can fly at all with the power of the sun. Experience how it evolved from initial hops to long ridge and cross-country flights, why gliding forms a valuable community, and how one can become a pilot.
Impressive Model Flight Section: The museum also houses a variety of model airplanes as well as the impressive collection of model engines from the Dr. Rubin Foundation. Here too, you can discover milestones in the history of model flying, whether with or without an engine. Including rarities like original model aircraft from the Horten brothers, the animal researcher Bernhard Grzimek with a built-in camera for his rare animal shots, and much more.
