The listed Four-Post Farmer´s House in the center of Alhausen was built in 1793 and acquired by the Weber family in 1806. In memory of Friedrich Wilhelm Weber, a society of the poet´s friends was founded around 1952, later renamed the Friedrich-Wilhelm Society, which established the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Weber Museum as a memorial. After the building was taken over by the city of Bad Driburg in 1973, the museum could be extensively expanded.
On the occasion of the anniversaries 50 Years of Weber Museum in 2003 and 130 Years of the Epic Dreizehnlinden in 2008, the museum was renovated again, the exhibition areas were expanded, and an herb garden was established. For Weber´s 200th birthday in 2013, two special rooms were set up, which have taken a collection of writings and Weber´s autographs.
In the former stables, various works of the poet (photographs) can be seen. The upper floor, formerly a granary and now converted into a gallery, is today equipped with several large oil paintings based on the epic Dreizehnlinden (Georg Lucas). Furthermore, Weber´s places of life and activity from his birth to his death are recorded here. A selection of Weber´s autographs (letters to his friend Hüffer) is also displayed, as are Weber´s works as a translator of Scandinavian literature.
