Welcome to the Heimatstube Angelroda.
With around 4,000 exhibits and approximately 95 information boards, the Heimatstube Angelroda is one of the most comprehensive collections in the region. On an exhibition area of around 330 m², arranged over 17 rooms, visitors can enjoy an exciting journey through time into the daily life of past generations under the motto ‘ Who can remember? Interesting objects from the past, objects that have disappeared from everyday life long ago, and stories that make you smile or amazed – the Heimatstube Angelroda offers all this in beautifully arranged rooms. The exhibition provides an overview of how people in the Geratal region once lived, worked and celebrated. The younger generation often finds it hard to imagine how laborious it was to make butter by hand – today, you simply go to the fridge. And even though old tube televisions and radios were not MP3-compatible or 3D-capable, life was still wonderful. With its diverse collection, the Heimatstube Angelroda would like to actively contribute to keeping the ‘old’ alive and preserving history – for the current and the coming generations. In addition to the Heimatstube, the imposing railway viaduct and the mysterious Kammerlöcher, which can be easily reached on foot from Angelroda, are absolutely fascinating and definitely visitable.
