Welcome to the Bingen River Pilot Museum – A Living Piece of Rhine History!
Dive into the fascinating world of Rhine river pilots, who for centuries ensured the safe passage of ships through the treacherous Bingen Hole. Located in the historic Pilot House on the Cultural Shore, the museum tells the story of the challenges, accidents, and daily lives of the pilots who navigated ships through the narrow, rock-filled passage with courage and expertise.
Explore engaging exhibits featuring Rhine maps, photos, models, and interactive QR codes that bring to life the history of inland navigation, towage, passenger shipping, and the water police. Don’t miss the Rhine map on the outer wall, accessible around the clock.
A large boat as playground for children is situated right to the museum.
