On our brewery grounds in Bayreuth, you will experience a symbiosis of traditional and modern brewing culture. During an adventure tour, you will learn how brewing was done in the olden days, as everything is still preserved in its original state. The tour shows how the craft of brewing and our passion for beer have evolved over four generations of the Maisel family. At the same time, your journey will take you past the state-of-the-art Maisel & Friends brewhouse, which provides us with space for innovation and new beer creations.
Brewing then and now
The heart of our brewery is the distinctive brick building from our founding year 1887, which you can explore during an adventure tour. Embark on a journey from the beginnings of our brewery over a hundred years ago to today´s way of brewing the best beer! As early as 1988, our Maisel´s Beer Experience World was listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the most extensive beer museum.
Historic Machine and Brew House
Inside our brewery, everything seems as if the brewers and coopers have just gone on a lunch break. The tools are still hanging on the walls, the impressive steam engine smells of lubricating oil, and the copper kettles look as if they have just been used for brewing. The impressive cooling ship still exists and today serves as a fascinating gallery for 400 rare enamel signs from various breweries.
“Braukunstwelt”
The “Braukunstwelt”, a newly designed area of the Beer Experience World, shows interactively and sensorially how a vast variety of aromas and beer styles emerge from just four ingredients - water, malt, hops, and yeast. Here, you will experience the significance of each raw material and the entire brewing process uniquely.
Maisel & Friends Brewhouse
After learning how we used to brew beer, it´s time to move from the past to the present. At the end of your tour, you will pass our state-of-the-art Maisel & Friends brewhouse. In this 25-hectoliter brew house, beer is brewed every day. With a little luck, you might be able to watch the brewmaster at work over his shoulder – the brewhouse is glazed, and watching is expressly encouraged. We show you that beer is an honest and artisanal product with nothing to hide in its production!
