Mechanicum

Description

Since April 1, 2022, our Mechanicum has been a new attraction in Rüdesheim am Rhein. We have opened a collection of automata and kinetic art in the former office salons of the old Asbach Uralt distillery. Shimmering marble runs, small scenes with humorous, political, or purely technical ideas. Using buttons or pedals, visitors can set more than 100 mechanical objects in motion themselves, conceived and made by over 25 artists from around the world. The Mechanicum can be visited individually; no guided tours are necessary. An experience for young and old — and everyone in between! We are part of the Asbachgasse, an alley in the midst of the old Asbach distillery with the flair of the industrial turn of the century, a meeting place for culture, art, creative shops, wine, and good food.
