The Military History Museum of Anhalt is dedicated to documenting and presenting the military history of the former Principality, and later State, of Anhalt. Beginning with the era of Albrecht dem Bären (Albert the Bear), the permanent exhibition traces the region's history through the ages. Key highlights include the 1626 Battle of the Elbe Bridge near Dessau and Roßlau, the establishment of the combat engineer training ground in Roßlau, the region's liberation in 1945, the NVA’s radio reconnaissance operations in Dessau, and finally, the continued use of these facilities by the Bundeswehr until its withdrawal in 2007.
