At the Panometer Dresden, a former gas storage facility in Dresden-Reick, Berlin-based artist Yadegar Asisi has been presenting his monumental 360° panoramic artworks since 2006.
The immersive presentation, shown at a 1:1 scale with a circumference of 105 meters and a height of 27 meters, is accompanied by a coordinated light and sound production that takes visitors on an exciting journey of discovery.
Until recently, the Panometer Dresden alternated between two city-related and historically significant panoramas: DRESDEN BAROQUE and DRESDEN 1945. In 2024, a nature panorama was shown in Dresden for the first time: “AMAZONIA – Fascination of the Tropical Rainforest.” This monumental work focuses on the Brazilian rainforest. With AMAZONIA, Asisi created a hyper-realistic artistic space that condenses and presents the diverse vegetation forms of the Amazon Basin and its complex ecosystem. Within the cylindrical panorama, visitors can explore mountain rainforests and river lowlands, clearings and waterways, towering trees, or a valley opening before them. With prolonged viewing, a variety of exotic inhabitants of this natural world come into sight: for example, brightly colored carnivorous plants, colonies of giant ants, or Indigenous people hunting in the forest.
You can now look forward to the artist’s second nature panorama, coming in March 2026:
First dive in. Then dive deeper.
Only until 17 March can you immerse yourself in the unique world of the Amazon. Beginning 27 March, a view into another hidden world opens: “GREAT BARRIER REEF.”
Yadegar Asisi stages the vibrant underwater landscape off the coast of Australia. This immersive artwork reveals the fragile beauty of the world’s largest coral reef with unprecedented intensity.
The panorama invites visitors on a sensory expedition into the shimmering underwater world of the Earth’s greatest coral reef. Colors, shapes, light, and sound merge into a unique experience between art and nature.
