Öffentliche Führungen durch die Sammlung an jedem Samstag um 11 Uhr. Samstags um 12 Uhr findet zudem ein Kurzkonzert auf der Mighty Wurlitzer Theaterorgel statt. Führungsgebühr: 3,- Euro zzgl. Museumseintritt.

Description

The Musical Instrument Museum of the State Institute for Music Research at the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation in Berlin collects musical instruments from the European art music tradition spanning the 16th to the 21st centuries. The museum currently holds approximately 3,200 instruments, many of which are in playable condition. Some 800 instruments are on display in the public collection. In terms of its diversity, it is one of the most representative collections in Germany.

The entire collection is cataloged in specialized scholarly catalogs and other publications on musical instruments. The results of the work carried out in the restoration workshop are published in the form of technical drawings, which can be purchased through the   shop. The museum’s CD series and concerts also document the work of the scholars and restorers on the historical instruments in the collection.
