City Gallery Bamberg - Villa Dessauer
The representative villa of the Jewish hops trader Dessauer was built in 1884 just outside the city gates in the Haingebiet area. Today, the building serves as a gallery for modern art with year-round rotating exhibitions.
Since 1987, Villa Dessauer has regularly hosted temporary exhibitions, lectures, and musical events, primarily organized by the museums of the city of Bamberg. The Bamberg Art Association e.V. and the Professional Association of Visual Artists of Upper Franconia (BBK) also exhibit here. As a result, modern and contemporary art play a significant role in Villa Dessauer.
The newly created series rapid art by the museums of the city of Bamberg offers artists the opportunity to use the space relatively spontaneously and for short periods during intervals between larger exhibitions.
