The Amtsturm is one of the best-preserved defense towers in Germany. It is located in the center of the city and is the last remnant of the Eldenburg, built in 1306. On four floors, visitors can learn a lot about the city´s history, crafts, and household items around 1900, as well as the history of the most significant Mecklenburg brewery. The narrow spiral staircase and the original clockwork from 1856 make the museum visit a very special experience. Additional rooms of the museum are located in the historic Amtshaus. There, visitors can expect a historic office room, traditional crafts, grandmother´s room, and many noteworthy individual pieces.
