Description
The Technical Museum of Ribbon Weaving has been located since 1998 in the factory building of the former ribbon weaving company J.G. Schurig. Here, the history of ribbon production in Großröhrsdorf and the surrounding area is presented. The highlight is demonstrations on fully functional looms and ribbon weaving machines. The local ribbon industry is a traditional industrial sector with over 340 years of history. It shaped the economic profile of the region and gained recognition throughout Germany and far beyond its borders. In our museum, you can experience the history of ribbon weaving from the 17th century to the present.
