The Temaikèn Zoo in Buenos Aires, officially known as Bioparque Temaikèn, is an impressive zoological park located in the city of Belén de Escobar, about 50 km north of Buenos Aires. The park opened in 2002 and covers an area of approximately 34 hectares. Temaikèn is more than just a zoo; it is a biopark dedicated to the conservation and protection of animal species as well as environmental education. The name ´Temaikèn´ comes from the language of the Tehuelche Indians and means ´Land of Life´. The park is divided into various thematic zones, including the African savannah, the aquarium, the Asian zone, and the native fauna of Argentina. In addition to showcasing animals, Temaikèn offers numerous educational programs and activities for visitors of all ages. The zoo works closely with various conservation organizations and is involved in projects for the reintroduction of endangered species and the promotion of biodiversity.
