Located in Vluyn in the Lower Rhine region, the Uhrenmuseum Hubben provides insights into the artisanal and technical development of timekeeping. It is a private family business in Neukirchen-Vluyn whose roots go back to 1896; at that time the institution began as a clockmaker’s shop in neighboring Rheurdt and is now operated by the fourth generation.
The collection is overseen by a female master clockmaker and comprises a broad range of historical, modern, and unusual timepieces. The clocks are complemented by authentic workbenches and the instruments typical of traditional clockmakers, which offer insight into working methods and restoration practices.
Notable rarities in the exhibition include a large tower clock from Seville dating from 1868 and a clock with iron plates from 1715. Overall, the museum documents the technological developments, craft skills, and stylistic diversity of clockmaking over several centuries.
