Leisure activities are also well catered for. A wide range of social facilities, a variety of clubs, and numerous recreational opportunities ensure excellent leisure options. The large, contiguous forest area attracts walkers, cyclists, joggers, and Nordic walkers alike. From May to September, the outdoor pool “Gleiberger Land,” considered one of the most beautiful open-air pools in the region, opens its doors. The local recreational area “Wißmarer See” and the EU-designated bathing lake “Silbersee” in Launsbach are also very popular excursion and leisure destinations during the summer months.

Also worth mentioning are the annual markets and festivals. These include the Krämermarkt and Märchentag in Wißmar, as well as the three Day classic car and music festival “Golden Oldies” (in the Krofdorf-Gleiberg district), which attracts up to 70,000 visitors.
