About

Our Landmarks

The local municipality of Hochstetten-Dhaun in its present form is a fairly young municipality. It was formed in 1969 as part of the municipal territorial and administrative reform through the voluntary merger of the formerly independent municipalities of Hochstetten, Hochstädten and Dhaun.

Consisting of the districts of Hochstetten, Hochstädten, Dhaun, St. Johannisberg and Karlshof, Hochstetten-Dhaun, with 12.62 km² and currently approx. 1,660 inhabitants, is one of the largest local municipalities in the Kirner Land.

The five districts can each look back on a long and quite eventful past.

Until their dissolution on 4 June 1969, the municipalities of Dhaun, Hochstädten and Hochstetten had their own coats of arms.
The municipal council of the new municipality of Hochstetten-Dhaun decided on 8 August 1969 to continue using the previous coat of arms of the municipality of Hochstetten.

The coat of arms is divided vertically into two parts. On the right, in gold, it shows a red lion armed and tongued in blue. The green field on the left shows two crossed hammers in gold.

The lion indicates the former affiliation with the Wild and Rhine County. The two hammers are the characteristic symbol of the stone industry in the municipality.
