About

Our Landmarks

Sternberg is a small town with a great past and is charmingly situated in the heart of the Mecklenburg Lake District, with vast forests, numerous lakes, and colorful meadows.

Sternberg was first mentioned in documents in 1248, and Henry the Lion made Sternberg his favorite residence in 1310. From 1275 until the end of the monarchy, the Mecklenburg state parliament met in Sternberg. In 1549, at the Sagsdorf Bridge, it decided to introduce the Reformation for the entire country.

The state-recognized resort is a good starting point for swimming, sailing, and fishing, or simply relaxing by the lake. Sternberg’s lovingly restored historic old town and the renovated city wall invite you to take a stroll through the town.
