Town hall
Town hall at the market square

Description

It is not known when the first town hall was built and what it looked like. An administrative building dating from the 18th century was demolished in 1909 along with two residential buildings to make room for a new building in the market square. Grand Duke Friedrich Franz IV was a guest at the foundation stone of the town hall. The inauguration took place in November 1910. After the Second World War, the town hall was used successively by the Soviet commandant´s office, the city administration, the administration of the district of Teterow founded in 1952, and the German People´s Police. With the political change in 1990, the city administration returned to the town hall. The building was extensively renovated until 1997.
