Description

"Früchte des Straelener Raumes" or "Fruits of the Straelen Area" is the central theme for the stone, which represents the centerpiece of this octagonal fountain made of basalt lava. The water bubbles from a source at the top of the stone and flows around the entire stone structure, which was created by the sculptors Johannes Netz and Gerd Hardy from Brohl. The fountain was donated in 1989 by UGA Niederrhein (Union of Horticultural Sales Markets), now known as Landgard, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the producers' auction. The fountain's column is adorned with numerous ornamental-like representations of local horticultural products such as flowers and vegetables.
