Description

In the 1980s, the Malchiner Gate and the adjoining Council and Police Servant´s house, once the residence of the prison overseers, were converted into a city museum. The prison cells from the 19th century were preserved in their original state on the lower floor of the gate. A staging makes the prison situation tangible. It is part of the new city history exhibition after the extensive renovation in 2011 and 2012.

During the summer holidays, the museum offers an adventure experience for kids on vacation. For instance, they can experience a laundry day as it was in 1900, try out old toys, or learn more about old tools and equipment from houses and farms.
