Station: [6] The Coppersmith's Workshop

Until a few years ago, this huge bellows hung in a coppersmith's workshop just a few kilometres down the road. It did a good job there, supplying the forge fire with oxygen. When the workshop was closed, the bellows made its way to the museum. And not a moment too soon! Because believe me, it didn't always look like this! The bellows had to be thoroughly restored. A conditioner was repeatedly applied to the brittle leather until it once again became supple and flexible. The wooden parts were refurbished. And since then, the bellows has occupied a place of honour here at the museum.

Look at your screen now to see how the restoration work was carried out.
