Station: [6] Apartment 13

Carl Ludwig Wunderlich used these rooms to store his goods, hence the wide doors. But under one of his successors – either Adolf Friedrich Bader or Jakob Bucherer – the spaces were converted into homes.

The oak parquet flooring with a herringbone pattern and the stucco ceilings probably date from the late 19th century. And the historic window recesses reveal the mansion’s solid sandstone walls.

As to who lived here – we don’t know. Prior to the late 19th century, Lahr’s town directories list no names other than those of the respective owners. This apartment was apparently not rented out before the end of the 19th century.

The 2016 refurbishment divided the spaces in new ways and created an apartment with a spacious kitchen-living room and two bedrooms. It measures 88 square metres, equivalent to 947 square feet.

The great sandstone slabs covering the floor in the entrance area date back to the early years of the building.
