Espacio Pla was born to make the work of Eduardo Pla (1952-2012) widely known; a tribute to his life and artistic career. It is a project promoted by the artist’s family, with the purpose of keeping his work alive and available to the public, in a chronological tour of his 40 years of artistic production. Eduardo Pla was a pioneer in applying technology to art. He constantly experimented alongside global media communications, and approached electronic digital systems as a means of artistic expression. The aim of Espacio Pla is to be the lighthouse of digital art; a place that promotes the use of technology in art. Among its purposes are the edition of art material, the organization of courses and workshops by specialists, and the award of an annual visual arts prize.
