Satellite Location of Die Neue Sammlung Munich - The Design Museum
In April 1990, the International Ceramics Museum opened as a satellite location of Die Neue Sammlung Munich in the historic baroque monastery building known as the Waldsassen Building, which was specially restored for this purpose in Weiden. The museum is operated by the city of Weiden. This was made possible through the Museum Development Program adopted by the Bavarian State Government in 1979. The innovative concept developed by Die Neue Sammlung not only features rotating exhibitions from all Bavarian state museums with ceramic collections but also hosts special exhibitions on various themes.
The museum is temporarily closed for renovation work.
