Description

At the Buchholzmarkt in the old town of Bockenem, the Turmuhrenmuseum Bockenem takes visitors through the history of tower clockmaking in the region.

The museum is located in the Lower Saxony town of Bockenem in the district of Hildesheim and focuses on local industrial history. At the centre of the exhibition is the former Bockenem tower clock factory J. F. Weule, whose development is documented here.

The exhibits trace production and technology back to 1848. A total of 40 functioning tower clocks are on display; many of them were restored on a voluntary basis by a former employee of the factory. The collection thus illustrates both craftsmanship and technical change in tower clockmaking.

The museum thereby provides insights into the region’s manufacturing traditions and the significance of tower clocks for civic and ecclesiastical buildings.
