The eight districts of the Eppelborn community look back on an eventful history. Historical finds in Dirmingen, Macherbach and Wiesbach indicate that people settled in the Eppelborn area as early as Gallo-Roman times. The first documented mentions date from the Middle Ages (Hierscheid around 1200, Wiesbach 1218, Eppelborn 1235, Dirmingen 1281) . For centuries, today's districts of the municipality of Eppelborn belonged to various rulers (Lorraine, Nassau-Saarbrücken, Kurtrier, France, Palatinate-Zweibrücken). The French Revolution brought about a fundamental change with the abolition of manorial rule. Eppelborn, Bubach, Calmesweiler, Macherbach and Habach were combined to form the Eppelborn mayor's office. Dirmingen formed a second mayor's office with Berschweiler, Hierscheid, Humes and Wiesbach. On July 1, 1816, the two mayoralties became part of Prussia and have since then belonged to the newly formed Ottweiler district. From the Eppelborn-Dirmingen mayor's office, which was formed in 1822, the later Eppelborn district emerged with the independent communities of Aschbach, Berschweiler, Bubach-Calmesweiler, Dirmingen, Dörsdorf, Steinbach, Thalexweiler, Eppelborn, Habach, Bubach-Calmesweiler, Dirmingen, Eppelborn, Habach, Hierscheid , Humes, Macherbach and Wiesbach. As part of the regional and administrative reform, the new municipality of Eppelborn was formed on January 1, 1974 with the previously independent districts: Bubach-Calmesweiler, Dirmingen, Eppelborn, Habach, Hierscheid, Humes, Macherbach and Wiesbach.
