Golzow Castle, situated between the western slopes of the Zauche and the Hoher Fläming, was first mentioned in a document of 1219. The castle formed the core for the development of the town of Golzow. The octagonal church on an artificial hill in the middle of the town was inaugurated on December 3, 1752. The old Golzow city hall was built in 1717 as a single-story half-timbered building with rooms over three meters high. The distillery, built on the same site in 1855, is still worth a visit today (although currently closed).
