The city of Maintal, with its four districts of Dörnigheim, Bischofsheim, Hochstadt, and Wachenbuchen, was founded in 1974 as part of the Hessian territorial reform and is located between the cities of Hanau and Frankfurt as the westernmost municipality of the Main-Kinzig district.
