The Kerwa takes place every year on the weekend of the second Sunday in July and boasts a remarkable tradition. For many years, it has been customary in Engelmannsreuth to dig up the Kerwa on the Thursday before the actual festival. The Kerwa grave is the centerpiece of the entire ceremony. This ritual was initiated decades ago by the Kerwabum Engelmannsreuth and still holds its firm place in our Kerwa festival calendar to this day. Every year, old and young villagers come together to take part in this festivity and continue the decades-old tradition.
