Sebastiansplatz

Beschreibung

Sebastiansplatz entrance (Neumair-Ledererhaus): The house with the striking pillars once had a neighbor, the coppersmith's house. The coppersmith's house was also the house at the Outer Gate, the first city fortifications with a meter-thick wall, some of the foundations of which are still hidden under the ground in the front gardens. The Kupferschmiedhaus had to make way for the curve radius of the “Bockerlbahn”, a steam tram that went into operation on August 16, 1906. The “Neumair-Ledererhaus”, named after the Neumair sheep and leather-making family, had to be supported when the neighboring house was removed. The supports were planned by architect Johannes Schott, architect of the Altötting basilica.
