Beschreibung

The Museum Quintana is the only archaeological museum in the district of Deggendorf in Lower Bavaria. Located at the Danube, Künzing was the site of the Roman fort Quintana almost 2.000 years ago. It´s job was to defend the Danube which was at the time the frontier of the Roman Empire in central Europe. The archaeological museum of Künzing presents fascinating archaeological finds from the oldest settlments in the younger stone ages until the early medieval period. Highlights are a facial reconstruction of a woman who died 7.000 years ago and an exhibition about the only excavated wooden amphitheatre from Germany.
