Station: [51] Cellings

„A glance at the ceiling also amazed the visitors at castle Horst at the time: there, numerous ornaments and patterns could be admired - either in black and white or in colour. Many rooms were also decorated with large paintings, both on the ceilings and on the walls. Rutger even had the wallpapers, which were still rare at the time, brought in - for example, numerous sheets of paper with floral prints, which were probably also attached to the ceilings. The large windows of the rooms let in enough light to see the paintings clearly. On the ground floor, all windows were glazed, otherwise some stone cross windows had lower openings left open - protected from burglars by iron bars and with shutters for the night."
