Station: [4] Tunnel

You are in the tunnel of the fortified access ramp.

As you walk through here, it’s worth taking a closer look to the right. In the tunnel wall, you’ll see several small barred doors. At first glance, they resemble tiny prison cells or perhaps dog kennels. However, appearances can be deceiving. Behind them lies a drainage system that carries away rainwater. The water is collected here and then flows into large basins.

The left side of the tunnel also reveals something about the complex. Through the small gate and the wall windows, you can look up into the upper atrium. This view is unassuming, but it reveals a great deal. At the end of the atrium, you can still see traces of a structure that once stood here. A small spiral staircase used to be here. It led upward and connected this area to a higher section of the complex.

The staircase had to be dismantled due to dilapidation. However, it is scheduled to be rebuilt in the foreseeable future. Thus, this place remains not only a passageway but also a space where the past and future renewal meet directly.

As you continue on, you have passed through a tunnel that is far more than just a passageway through the wall. It demonstrates how carefully even practical details were integrated into this fortified complex.
