Station: [257] Social Commitment

Simon Schocken worked out a concept to rectify the housing shortage. This was published in a pamphlet in 1925. In Zwickau-Weißenborn he had the Simon Schocken Settlement built, which later became the Willy-Flügel Settlement. The houses were affordable for most working classpeople and were also for the most part, self builds. In this way they could support their own existence with their own means like the company did.
