was once associated with the hope of rich silver finds and a happy return from the depths of the mountain. Today, the greeting tells of the pride of the citizens and their love for Germany's silver city. Its face is marked by the wealth and splendour brought by more than 800 years of silver mining.
The achievements and customs of the miners can still be seen, heard and experienced here - at traditional mining and smelting parades, at the miners' Christmas market, in the town and mining museum or on a trip into the silver mine.
The unique sound of the world-famous Gottfried Silbermann organs also attracts music lovers from all over the world to Freiberg.
