Welcome to Kiefersfelden: The gateway to the Kaiser and culture! 🏰🎭Dear culture and history enthusiasts,
The climatic health resort of Kiefersfelden, picturesquely situated at the foot of the majestic Kaiser Mountains, is not only a paradise for nature lovers and sports enthusiasts—it is also a lively center for culture and history, which we would like to present to you as part of the STADT.LAND.KULTUR project.
As the “Gateway to the Kaiser,” Kiefersfelden in the Bavarian Inn Valley combines boundless nature experiences with a unique cultural heritage that you can discover in every season.
🎨 Cultural highlights that inspireWe offer you the unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the deep-rooted tradition and special cultural treasures of Kiefersfelden:
- Knights' shows in Germany's oldest folk theater: Experience the unique “knights' shows” on the world's only listed revolving stage from 1833. This old Bavarian and Tyrolean theater tradition, which dates back to 1618, is a cultural phenomenon of the first order.
- Blaahaus Industrial Museum: Visit the historic Blaahaus (built in 1696 as workers' housing for the ironworks). The newly designed permanent exhibition highlights the region's unique 400-year industrial history (coal, iron, marble, cement) and also focuses on folk theater, musical traditions, and local clubs and associations. All exhibition texts are also available in English.
- Kieferer Puppet Theater: Let yourself be enchanted by the Bavarian Kasperl and the Kieferer Wichtln in the puppet theater – an interactive pleasure for all generations.
- Historic boat trip: Experience a historic crossing with the ferryman in a wooden boat across the Inn.
⛰️ Nature experience as cultural heritageThe characteristic natural beauty of Kiefersfelden is inextricably linked to its culture:
- Mountains: Whether it's sporty mountain tours to the Großer Traithen (1,852 m), the highest mountain in the Chiemsee Alpine region, or leisurely walks and bike rides along rivers and lakes – the landscape is the backdrop for many stories.
- Seasons: In summer, swimming lakes such as the Hödenauersee are a popular attraction, while in winter, groomed cross-country ski trails and toboggan runs right in the village are the order of the day.
